What Kind of Pictures are Right for Me?
Every bride is different; every professional photographer is different.
You will want to find a photographer with a style you admire
and whose personality complements your own. Finding the right
photographer
is an adventure, which leads you to great wedding pictures.
Some brides favor a formal, traditional look. Mostly posed pictures,
carefully lighted. This is a "classic" approach that's
always in style. It requires a photographer like Kevin Roznowski
with the ability to gather and pose people in a way that best captures
their expressions and emotions. Advantages: Predictable results.
Everyone will be included in the pictures. If done well, posed pictures
can look spontaneous and stylish. Possible drawback: Some interference
with the "flow" of the event. To avoid this, Kevin
Roznowski Photography will consider doing some of the formal
pictures of the
bride and groom before the ceremony.
Other brides prefer a casual, "photojournalist" approach.
Mostly candid pictures of unposed activities, taken by a photographer
who can react quickly and anticipate the next significant happening.
At Kevin Roznowski Photograhy we us different equipment to
help produce images that are offbeat, light, and energetic. Even though they
look
natural, the pictures will still be beautiful, with good lighting
and backgrounds. Advantages: Captures the feeling and spirit
of the occasion. Lots of great expressions and interaction. Possible drawback:
Results are somewhat unpredictable and some guests may not
be included
or may not have attractive expressions.
More and more photographers are combining these approaches
to offer you a combination of posed and candid coverage. We
find
this is
a great way to satisfy the modern bride's desire for a more
candid approach while meeting the desire of parents and grandparents
for a more traditional approach, similar to their own wedding
pictures.
Although most weddings are done in color, black-and-white is
coming back in style. It can be done in a posed or an informal
style,
or mixed. Some photographers do some of the formal portraits
in b/w,
and the rest in color. Or, as these samles show we used Black-and-whtie
high speed film to produce a more photojournalistic look
to the photographss as the birde was getting ready. Black-and-white
requires a somewhat
different approach to look good, so make sure to see your
photographer's
previous black-and-white pictures. Advantage: Done well,
it has
a wonderfully "artistic" look, like old Hollywood
portraits. Possible drawback: You don't capture the pleasing
colors of the event,
such as pink bridesmaids' dresses, red roses, etc.
If location and season permit, consider having at least some
of your pictures taken outdoors. The rich colors and textures
of a
natural
background make a great counterpoint to the (usual) indoor
wedding reception. Many couples have their formal portraits
taken in
a park or garden, before the wedding day. This way, if the
weather is not
favorable, you can postpone the shoot. Others take extra
time on
the day of the wedding to stop at a favorite outdoor spot.
Advantage: The beauty of nature compliments the beauty of
the bride. Possible
drawback: May be difficult to gather the entire wedding party
before and take too much time the day of.
You may want to consider having video as well as still pictures
taken at your wedding. Like everything else, this is a
matter of personal
taste. Advantage: Sound and motion create an extremely
realistic record of the day. Possible drawback: Video usually
requires
bright lights, which can be annoying to the guests. Unless
the videographer
is working with the photographer, video lights may also
interfere with still photos.
As you look at the work of several wedding photographers,
you'll know what style you like. At Kevin Roznowski Photography,
we
will take the time to find out what you want, and then
do our best to
deliver it. That gives you one less thing to worry about
on your big day. And it gives you wedding photos that
are literally
made
for you and your new family.
